Former MP Ayoub al-Rubaie confirmed on Friday that the formation of the next government could take place in March, noting that there are no complications hindering the process so far. Speaking to Al-Maalomah, al-Rubaie said, “The formation of the next government is proceeding smoothly, especially after the coordination framework was finalized in less than 24 hours following the announcement of the final results of the November elections, given that our bloc is the largest. This has allowed us to begin outlining the formation process.”
He added that “the framework formed two main committees concerned with identifying the candidate for the premiership and opening up to the rest of the political components, which gives an indication of the acceleration of the steps to resolve the issue.”
Al-Rubaie predicted that “the government will most likely be formed next March,” explaining that “dialogues between political forces are ongoing, and each party is aware of its size. Despite the possibility of some problems arising related to the scope of participation in the cabinet or the points to be documented in the government program, the general course remains stable.”
He affirmed that “the position of Prime Minister will not be complicated, especially given the consensus within the framework on the required criteria for the head of government,” emphasizing that “expediting the formation of the government may be the most prominent feature of the next phase.”
