The head of the Wujud Movement, Muhammad Abu Saeeda, revealed on Tuesday the most prominent factors that prompted the majority of the leaders of the Coordination Framework to refuse to grant the current Prime Minister, Muhammad Shia al-Sudani, a second term.
Abu Saeeda told Al-Maalouma that “the leaders of the Coordination Framework are seeking to form a majority government in cooperation with the political parties from the other components, while Al-Sudani is stalling with the Framework in order to renew his mandate.”
He added that “some political parties, most notably Maliki and the Popular Mobilization Forces parties within the coordination framework, are against renewing Sudani’s mandate, for several reasons, most notably his visit to Egypt to participate in the Sharm El-Sheikh summit, his signing of deals with Jordan and Egypt, and his handling of some political events.”
Abu Saeeda pointed out that “there are internal issues with al-Sudani, including spending large sums on investment projects without consulting the leaders of the Coordination Framework or disclosing their value, in addition to spending huge amounts on his election campaign and strained relations with the other parties within the Framework, all of which made him unacceptable for a second term.”
