Amid the accelerating political movement to name the new prime minister and establish the features of the next phase, the Coordination Framework formed two pivotal committees tasked with deciding on the names of candidates for the position of prime minister and ministers belonging to the framework, in a step that reflects the transfer of negotiations from the circle of general consultations to the decisive decision rooms.
An informed source, who preferred not to reveal his identity, told Al-Maalomah Agency that “the Coordination Framework has formed a special committee tasked with vetting the names proposed for the position of Prime Minister, and presenting the most acceptable candidate within the Shiite political establishment and with the other forces. It consists of three prominent leading figures: Ammar al-Hakim – head of the National Wisdom Movement, who has an influential political and negotiating presence in the framework’s balance equation; Humam Hamoudi – a leader in the Supreme Islamic Council, known for his long experience in political work and managing dialogues within the Shiite establishment; and Abu Karar al-Fariji – representative of the Badr Organization, one of the most prominent forces within the Coordination Framework, who has an effective role in internal agreements.”
He added that “this committee is responsible for proposing names, measuring acceptability, and managing discussions with political partners before submitting the final name to the framework’s leadership for a decision.”
The source indicated that “the coordination framework, in parallel with the presidential file, formed a second committee concerned with nominating the names of ministers belonging to its political forces, with the aim of distributing portfolios according to the criteria of competence, political balance, and the requirements of the stage.”
The committee consists of Yasser al-Maliki – representing the State of Law coalition, who plays a pivotal role in shaping the next government within the framework, Adnan al-Faihan – representing the Sadiqun bloc, and Abu Ahmed al-Rashid – representing the Badr Organization, who is responsible for the political negotiation file within the Badr wing.
The source confirmed that “the committee is authorized to submit lists of proposed names for each ministry that the framework will receive within the next government, taking into account internal balances and the recommendations of the leaders of the forces.”
The source explained that “with this step, the framework has moved from the stage of gathering opinions to the decision-making stage, creating internal harmony among the political forces within it, as well as striving to produce a consensus candidate for prime minister who satisfies the partners and meets regional and international pressures, and organizing the process of selecting ministers in a way that prevents conflicting agendas within the framework and ensures the formation of a more stable cabinet.”
