Legal expert Jamal al-Asadi confirmed on Saturday that the Independent High Electoral Commission has approximately 40 days to announce the final results of the parliamentary elections.
Speaking to Al-Maalouma, al-Asadi stated, “The government enters a caretaker phase, constitutionally speaking, starting from the day of the elections.” He explained that “Parliament has concluded its legislative role after the elections and currently possesses no legislative powers.”
Al-Asadi described this election cycle as “the calmest in terms of the number of complaints and appeals,” noting “the absence of major appeals that significantly impact the results.”
He also affirmed that “the coordination framework was clear in its direction before the elections, which demonstrates the continuity of the post-election process,” predicting that “the formation of the next government will be swift and smooth.”
Regarding the appeals, he explained that “changing the initial election results based on appeals will be difficult,” noting that “the current political situation does not indicate the presence of a deciding factor that could overturn the electoral equation.” He also pointed out that “external factors may play a role in the anticipated political discussions and deliberations to form the new government.”
