The Mosul International Airport administration has completed all technical and administrative preparations to receive its first domestic flights within the next few days, a step that culminates a long process of governmental and local efforts to reactivate the airport after years of closure. Nineveh Governor Abdul Qadir al-Dakhil told Al-Sabah newspaper, on the sidelines of a field visit to inspect the airport’s facilities, that “the local government is making great efforts to ensure the airport’s readiness in all technical and administrative aspects,” emphasizing that “work is progressing rapidly to receive the first domestic flight very soon.”
Al-Dakhil added that “Nineveh is on the verge of a historic achievement that will restore Mosul to its true status. The airport represents the province’s window to the world, and its opening means a new beginning towards reconstruction, stability, and the advancement of the local economy and tourism.”
