Representative Jiay Timur confirmed, on Tuesday, that the recent agreement between the federal government in Baghdad and the Kurdistan Regional Government included important understandings regarding the outstanding issues between the two sides.
Timur said in a statement to Al-Maalouma Agency, that “the last meeting between the two government delegations in Baghdad and Erbil was positive and resulted in a preliminary agreement that includes several points of contention, most notably proceeding with the legislation of the oil and gas law and activating the work of the committees concerned with Article 140 of the Constitution.”
He added that “the agreement also touched on the necessity of implementing the Sinjar agreement in a way that ensures the stability of the district and the return of the displaced, in addition to organizing the security and administrative situation there,” noting that “the two sides expressed their willingness to cooperate on issues of a national nature, away from political tensions.”
