Ibrahim Ali Taan Al-Jubouri, a member of the Rights Movement, confirmed on Monday that the government and the Ministry of Finance’s refusal to send the 2025 budget tables to Parliament reflects the lack of a clear economic vision for managing state funds. He pointed out that this delay has negatively impacted economic activity in Iraq, paralyzing many economic sectors and leading to a stagnation in domestic economic activity.
Al-Jubouri told Al-Maalouma Agency that “the failure to send the budget tables to Parliament for approval directly impacted the economic reality and led to the disruption of most economic activities across various sectors, which contributed to a decline in economic activity in general.”
He added that “specialists in the field of economics and finance confirmed that the persistence of this problem indicates the lack of a real strategic vision by the Ministry of Finance in managing financial affairs,” indicating that “its delay in sending the tables indicates a lack of expertise in managing financial resources within the ministry.”
He explained that “Parliament should have summoned the Minister of Finance to Parliament to explain the reason for the continued delay in submitting the budget schedules, rather than simply hosting her in the Finance Committee to ascertain whether there was a deliberate intent behind this delay.”
