Government directive to operate Mosul Airport starting next month

Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani ordered the operation of Mosul Airport on Sunday, starting November 1.
Al-Sudani’s media office said in a statement received by Shafaq News Agency, “The airport will operate only for domestic flights to other Iraqi airports, pending the finalization of the contract with the operating company.”
He added, “The airport is currently completing the requirements for obtaining an operating license from the Civil Aviation Authority, and will be operated internally on a temporary basis, through the airports’ management’s own efforts for inter-governorate flights.”
He continued, “It is worth noting that the Ministry of Transport and Mosul Governorate, under the direction of the Prime Minister, have reached the final stages of negotiations with specialized international companies to prepare the airport to receive international flights, serving citizens and travelers from within and outside the country.”
