MP Bassem al-Gharibawi described the three-year budget on Thursday as one of the most failed budget projects in the country’s history, pointing out that the current government, headed by Mohammed Shia al-Sudani, bears responsibility for its failures in addressing the economic and service-related crises.
Al-Gharibawi told Al-Maalouma, “The three-year budget did not address the real problems facing the Iraqi people, whether economically or in terms of services. He noted that the government wasted a real opportunity to implement fundamental reforms through this massive budget.”
He added that “huge sums of money were allocated within the budget items, but their results were not reflected in the living conditions of citizens, but rather increased unemployment and poverty rates in a number of governorates, stressing that the clear failure to implement the budget items lies with the Al-Sudani government, which did not adhere to its pledges.”
