MP Moeen Al-Kadhimi revealed on Wednesday that the Kurdistan Region has accumulated large debts during the years 2023, 2024 and 2025, indicating that the region has not handed over oil and non-oil revenues to the federal government for three years.
Al-Kadhimi said in a statement to / Al-Maalouma /, “The Ministry of Finance calculates about 4 trillion and 700 billion dinars of non-oil revenues, while data from the Ministry of Oil indicates that the revenues from smuggled oil from the region amount to about 4 trillion and 800 billion dinars,” stressing that “these amounts have not been handed over to the federal treasury despite three years having passed since they were due.”
Al-Kadhimi called on the federal government to “deduct these amounts from the region’s share of the general budget,” noting that “the continued disregard for these debts represents a violation of the principle of justice in the distribution of wealth among the governorates.”
