MP Moeen Al-Kadhimi criticized the federal government on Tuesday for failing to send the general budget tables to Parliament, noting that the government should have sent the tables and prepared the 2026 budget for voting and approval in preparation for the next government.
Al-Kadhimi said in a statement to Al-Maalouma Agency, “The budget law stipulates that its tables must be sent to Parliament two months before the start of the new year, with the aim of discussing and voting on them so that they can enter into force at the beginning of the next fiscal year.”
He added, “The government violated the budget law by not sending the tables within the specified period, and all indications confirm that they will not be referred to Parliament at the present time.”
Al-Kadhimi explained that “the government not only violated the budget law, but also failed to prepare the 2026 budget, even though the country is approaching elections, and it was necessary to legislate the next budget for the new Council of Ministers to begin its duties with clear financial cover.”
