The Parliamentary Services and Reconstruction Committee revealed, on Sunday, that the maps of the Development Road project have reached their final stages, while it expects the launch of the first phase of the project in the first quarter of 2026.
Committee member, MP Baqir Al-Saadi, told Al-Maalouma Agency, “The engineering designs for the Development Road project, including geographical maps, branches and paths, have reached their final stages,” indicating that “these designs were prepared with a high degree of flexibility to allow most of the governorates through which the road passes to benefit, by stimulating free residential, industrial and commercial projects along its length.”
Al-Saadi added, “Current indicators suggest that the first phase of the project will launch in the first quarter of 2026, especially with the presence of dozens of international companies that have expressed their desire to contribute to the implementation work,” noting that “the value of the expected investments in the project will amount to tens of billions of dollars if all its phases are completed, whether related to the roads or railway lines, reaching the Iraqi-Turkish border, starting from the ports of Basra.”
