MP Mukhtar Mahmoud confirmed on Wednesday that there are no indications that the 2025 budget tables will reach the House of Representatives during the remaining period before the November elections.
Mahmoud told Al-Maalouma, “The delay in the 2025 budget schedules has caused major problems for ministries, agencies, and institutions, including local governments in the governorates. This has negatively impacted the implementation of many projects and the payment of dues.” He explained that “the government bears direct responsibility as the entity responsible for completing the schedules and sending them to Parliament for a vote.”
He added, “All indications suggest that the schedules will not reach the House of Representatives during the remainder of the final legislative term before the elections scheduled for November 2025,” noting that “they will likely fall to the next government to decide.”
Mahmoud pointed out that “the budget schedules were supposed to arrive early in order to proceed with their implementation, but it seems that there are many problems that require clarification and revealing their truth to public opinion.”
