Parliamentary call to pass important laws before the end of the parliamentary session

Independent MP Mohammed Anouz called on Saturday for the acceleration of the approval of a number of important laws related to citizens’ lives and the organization of state administration, during the final legislative term of the current parliament.
Anouz told Al-Maalouma News Agency that “parliamentary performance suffers from clear procrastination due to the absence of regular sessions and weak parliamentary attendance, which has led to the delay in the approval of important legislation that affects large segments of the Iraqi people.”
He added that “the preoccupation of political blocs with the elections, in addition to existing disputes, are all factors that have hindered the regular convening of sessions, which has negatively impacted the completion of necessary laws,” noting that “there are a group of laws that must be approved before the end of the current parliamentary term.”
Anouz called for “the approval of the Federal Court Law, the Oil and Gas Law, and the Popular Mobilization Law before the end of the current term,” stressing “the importance of approving these laws to ensure the stability of the state and the organization of its affairs.”
