Member of the Parliamentary Finance Committee, Jamal Kocher, described the three-year budget as “catastrophic” on Tuesday, stressing that it contributed to an unprecedented increase in the financial deficit.
Kocher told Al-Maalouma Agency, “The current budget did not achieve the required balance, but rather led to economic paralysis after the suspension of many vital and service projects that the citizen was counting on.” He wondered about “the true percentage of the deficit that the government is concealing.”
He added, “Continuing to implement this budget will lead to the accumulation of debts and weaken investment opportunities, which will negatively impact the economic and living conditions.”
The three-year budget is facing widespread criticism from experts and politicians, amid warnings of its negative effects on the service and development sectors in the country.
