The Parliamentary Finance Committee confirmed on Saturday that the government has not yet sent the tables of the draft 2025 budget to the House of Representatives, considering this delay a violation of the Financial Management Law.
Committee member, MP Hussein Mounes, told Al-Maalouma News Agency, “The Finance Committee has repeatedly asked the government to send detailed tables for the 2025 budget, but it continues to stall without providing any clear justification for this delay.”
He added, “The budget tables represent the annual plan for the state’s work and must be sent to Parliament regardless of the availability of funds, as it is essential that they include clear measures to reduce spending and increase revenues to address the repercussions of the decline in oil prices.”
He explained that “the government, after the approval of the three-year budget by Parliament, disappeared from the scene regarding financial updates and changes, both internally and externally, without any communication with the legislative authority.”
