MP Yasser Al-Husseini confirmed on Saturday that the government has failed to combat corruption, pointing out that violations have been observed in more than 20 vital files.
Al-Husseini told Al-Maalouma that “corruption is a scourge that eats away at the institutions of the Iraqi state, and it is no less dangerous than terrorism,” stressing that “the government has failed to combat corruption and the evidence of this is abundant.”
He added that “there are major violations and sensitive files in more than 20 files, most of which have been referred to the Integrity Commission,” noting that “construction and reconstruction are not possible without a real fight against corruption and the exploitation of influence and state capabilities by some political forces.”
Al-Husseini stressed that “corruption is the real danger targeting the Iraqi state in general.”
