An informed source revealed, on Saturday, a secret message carried by the presidential delegation participating in the meetings of the United Nations General Assembly in New York in its (80) session, which he said was related to the nature of the relationship between Baghdad and Washington.
The source explained to Shafaq News Agency, “The delegation carried with it a message from the Coordination Framework, as it is the ruling party, which includes an inquiry to the United States of America about its commitment to the recent security agreement to maintain the country’s security, in addition to its commitment to the agreed-upon official withdrawal schedule, and protecting the country from any external targeting under any pretext or banner, considering that Iraq has fulfilled all its obligations under the concluded agreement.”
According to the source, Washington’s response “will determine the future of the relationship between the two sides,” particularly in the economic and investment spheres. The message also comes against the backdrop of statements by US officials regarding the possibility of sanctions being imposed on Iraq and its exposure to Israeli strikes, which would impact the country’s security and stability, the source added.
Earlier today, President of the Republic, Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, headed to the United States of America to participate in the meetings of the United Nations General Assembly in New York in its (80) session.
Rashid is heading an official delegation that includes Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Fuad Hussein, Deputy Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region Qubad Talabani, Minister of Health Saleh al-Hasnawi, Minister of Migration and Displacement Evan Faiq Jabro, National Security Advisor Qasim al-Araji, and a number of other officials.
The general debate of the 80th session of the General Assembly will open on Tuesday, September 23, and will continue until its conclusion on the 29th of the same month.
