Al-Sudani - Boycotting the elections is not the solution and will be a gift to the corruptPrime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani said on Thursday that boycotting the elections scheduled for November 11 is not the solution, stressing that a boycott would be a gift to the corrupt.

“Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani met Thursday, with a group of tribal sheikhs, dignitaries, and academic elites from the Karrada district, at Sheikh Mahdi al-Hakak’s guest house,” al-Sudani’s office said in a statement.

He added, “The government has implemented the first set of demands previously submitted by the people of Karrada, and work is underway on the second set,” noting the state of stability and security throughout Iraq, where security forces are fully in control.

Al-Sudani stressed “the need to participate in the upcoming elections with awareness to ensure accurate choices, which means taking half the path toward the security, stability, and development we seek.” He also emphasized the importance of overcoming the mistakes of the past by prioritizing the national interest.

He pointed out that “boycotting the elections is not the solution, and will be a gift to the corrupt and anyone with an agenda that does not serve the country,” adding that “the countries of the world view Iraq today with respect and appreciation for its achievements in many areas.”

He stressed that “the presence of major international companies operating in Iraq is a sign of its recovery,” adding, “There is a major economic transformation taking place in Iraq, and the volume of investments reaching $100 billion means that it is a safe and stable country and an attractive environment for investment.”
