Security expert, Qatari Al-Samarmad, revealed on Thursday that US forces have laid off about 1,000 workers working inside the Ain al-Assad base building in western Anbar on a daily wage, for unclear reasons.
In a statement to Al-Maalomah Agency, Al-Samarmad said, “US forces have terminated the services of about 1,000 workers working on daily wages inside the Al-Assad base building in the Al-Baghdadi area of Hit district, west of Anbar, without knowing the real reasons behind this measure, which coincided with the redeployment and repositioning of US forces in Iraq and Syria.”
He added that “the US forces terminated the services of workers of various specialties from Iraq and from various provinces of Iraq,” indicating that “the dismissal of service workers at the Ain al-Assad base coincided with the adoption of a package of measures that included the termination of the contract to supply US forces with food supplies, followed by the suspension of the contract to supply construction materials and the suspension of building construction operations inside the base building until further notice.” He explained that “the US forces, according to the workers whose services were terminated, sought the help of a specialized foreign company to supply its forces stationed at the Ain al-Assad base with food and construction materials.”
