Sovereignty Alliance member Mohammed al-Dulaimi revealed on Tuesday that the head of the Progress Alliance, Mohammed al-Halbousi, has allocated one billion dinars to each candidate who withdraws from the Sunni alliances and joins his coalition.
Al-Dulaimi told Al-Maalouma News Agency that “the Al-Halbousi-led Progress Alliance is considered the most generous in terms of financial incentives it offers to defectors from Sunni opposition alliances. Each candidate who declares their loyalty to the alliance receives one billion dinars without any restrictions or conditions.”
He added, “Al-Halbousi promised new members of his coalition leadership positions, contracts, and other undisclosed privileges, which constitutes an electoral violation punishable by law, despite the commission’s offices turning a blind eye to these violations for blatantly ulterior motives.”
Al-Dulaimi pointed out that “a number of defectors from Sunni opposition parties who joined the Progress Alliance were given positions in the Anbar local government, including advisors and general managers.”
Al-Dulaimi concluded by saying, “According to officials in the province, Al-Halbousi has ordered that all state capabilities be harnessed to serve the new candidates joining his alliance.”
