On Tuesday, Abdullah Al-Qadi, CEO of the UAE’s Crescent Petroleum Company, revealed the current gas production capacity at the Kormor field in Sulaymaniyah, noting the company’s readiness to supply quantities of gas to the federal government to power the electricity grid.
Al-Qadi told Shafaq News Agency, “Current gas production in the Komur field in Sulaymaniyah has reached 520 cubic meters, and the first expansion of the field project will be completed before the end of this year and will add an additional 250 cubic meters of gas.”
He added, “This gas production will achieve self-sufficiency for the Kurdistan Region in generating power plants, and the additional quantities will then be used for other resources.”
According to the judge, the company has submitted an offer to the Iraqi government to supply quantities of gas to the Ministry of Electricity, adding, “We are still awaiting the ministry’s response to the offer, which guarantees our readiness, acceptance, and provision of the quantities requested by the ministry.”
The CEO noted that the company is currently prepared to provide 100 cubic meters of gas, sufficient to operate power plants generating 500 megawatts.
He concluded his remarks by saying, “We at the company are prepared to increase the quantities supplied to the Iraqi government over the next three years and provide 400 cubic meters of gas, which is sufficient to generate 2,000 megawatts of electricity.”
