The head of the Wujoud Movement, Mohammed Abu Sa’ida, warned of an external scenario led by the United States, supported by international pressure, aimed at canceling the upcoming electoral process in Iraq and moving towards changing the political system under ready-made pretexts.
Abu Sa’ida told Al-Maalouma, “The international powers and external pressure do not want the parliamentary elections to be held in Iraq next November in their current form based on the post-2003 system.”
He added, “External pressures seek to reformulate the political process and change the ruling regime by holding only Shiite parties accountable, while excluding Sunni and Kurdish parties, due to American motives and plans.” He explained
that “America is trying to exploit the accusation that Shiite parties are loyal to Iran as a pretext to advance its project aimed at overthrowing the existing political system and removing Shiites from power, allowing it to extend its influence and hegemony over Iraq.”
