The General Company for Iraqi Ports announced today, Thursday, its inclusion in the global list of Side-Loading Service (STS) providers.
The company’s general manager, Farhan Al-Fartousi, said in a statement received by Al-Maalouma Agency, “The General Company for Ports of Iraq has achieved a new qualitative accomplishment, represented by its official inclusion in the global list of side-loading service providers (Ship to Ship Transfer – STS), according to the list issued by the global consulting company (DYNAMARINE), which specializes in this field.”
He stressed that “the inclusion of Iraqi ports in this international list is the culmination of efforts made in recent years to develop maritime services in accordance with the latest international standards,” indicating that “the launch of side-loading services (STS) in Iraqi ports represents a qualitative shift that will enhance the company’s position among its regional and international counterparts, and consolidate the confidence of shipping companies and maritime fleets in dealing with Iraqi ports.”
He added, “The services provided by the company in this sector include managing side-loading (STS) operations using modern equipment and highly qualified, specialized personnel. The company has received excellent ratings from the vessels it has handled, reflecting its level of preparedness and professionalism.”
He explained that “joining the international list of STS service providers will directly contribute to increasing the number of ships arriving at Iraqi ports, increasing revenues, and expanding the scope of maritime services provided by the company, in line with the requirements of global trade.”
He continued, “This achievement is an important step within the framework of the General Company for Iraqi Ports’ strategy aimed at improving the quality of its services and strengthening Iraq’s position on the global maritime transport map.”
