Member of the Rights Movement, Asifa Abbas Qadir, confirmed on Saturday that the Sunni and Kurdish blocs have sided with Washington in rejecting the legislation of the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) structure law, calling for the law to be included on the agenda of the next session of Parliament.
Qadir said in a statement to Al-Maalouma Agency that “the PMF structure law is ready from a legal and constitutional standpoint, and there are no technical obstacles to its passage,” adding that “passing the law is a tribute to the sacrifices of the PMF and an official recognition of their role in defending the homeland.” She
pointed out that “the Sunni and Kurdish parties are obstructing the passage of the law by siding with the American position that rejects it, by not attending the sessions dedicated to its legislation,” warning against “attempts to link the law to political aspects aimed at obstructing it.”
The member of the Rights Movement stressed that “the law represents moral and organizational support for members of the PMF, and enhances their sense of national belonging and their pride in their contribution to preserving Iraq’s security and stability.”
