An informed source confirmed on Monday that the Harir Air Base near Erbil, where US forces are stationed with heavy equipment and helicopters, suddenly closed its main gates this afternoon amid drones flying overhead.
The source told Al-Maalouma, “The closure occurred without any warning sirens or emergency indications being heard. The reason behind the closure of the gates, which are usually closed in the event of an emergency, is not yet known.”
He pointed out that “the situation around the base is calm, and no suspicious incidents have been recorded in recent days.”
It is noteworthy that the Harir base is the second largest US military base in Iraq after the Ain al-Asad base west of Anbar.
