The Harir base has become an advanced US operations room threatening Iraqs security through BarzaniInformation / Exclusive:
In a move that is part of a long-term US strategy, Washington is preparing to transform the Harir military base, located in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, into an advanced operations room to manage Middle East affairs, in light of the gradual withdrawal of US forces from Iraqi territory.
Despite the media promotion of a “complete” withdrawal in accordance with the joint security agreement between Baghdad and Washington, the reality on the ground reveals a systematic US repositioning, carried out through the international coalition and with the cover of the Kurdistan Regional Government, which appears more prepared than ever to embrace this long-term military and intelligence presence.
Kurdistan… Fertile Ground for US Intelligence
According to intelligence sources and political analyses, the Kurdistan Region is no longer just a logistical support point for US forces, but has effectively transformed into an integrated intelligence center for the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), with intelligence teams operating in several locations in the region, under the direct protection and facilitation of the regional government led by Masoud Barzani.
International reports have not hidden their concern about the nature of the activities conducted from the Harir base, which include gathering intelligence, directing drones, and carrying out precise targeting operations against key figures in the resistance axis inside and outside Iraq, particularly in Syria, Lebanon, and even Iran.

From Baghdad to Erbil: Reproducing the Occupation
While the federal government in Baghdad insists on the necessity of implementing the full withdrawal of US forces, in accordance with the concluded agreements, the United States is resorting to the option of “security division of influence,” by transferring the weight of its military presence to northern Iraq, exploiting the political flexibility and even the full support of the regional authorities.
This move constitutes a clear circumvention of Iraqi sovereignty and a blow to the concept of national partnership, as the US occupation is being reproduced under the cover of the “international coalition” and with the internal blessing of the Kurds, who view the US presence as a “strategic ally,” not as an occupying force that has caused the destruction of Iraq and threatened its national fabric for decades.
In this regard, an informed source confirmed today, Monday, that the Harir base near Erbil, where US forces are stationed with heavy equipment and helicopters, suddenly closed its main gates this afternoon, amid drones flying in the air.
The source told Al-Maalouma, “The closure occurred without any warning sirens or emergency indications being heard. The reason behind the closure of the gates, which are usually closed in the event of an emergency, is not yet known.”
He pointed out that “the situation around the base is not calm, with no suspicious incidents recorded in recent days.
Regarding the new shift in the positions of US forces, the danger in this deployment is not limited to Iraqi sovereignty, but extends to threatening regional security as a whole. The Harir base is a candidate to be a launching point for future aggressive operations against neighboring countries, in light of an expected escalation by Washington and its allies in multiple files, most notably Syria, Iran, and Lebanon.
Observers believe that the US presence in Kurdistan enables Washington to operate with complete ease, without facing the popular and official pressures it faced in central and southern Iraq, which opens the way for systematic targeting of leaders of resistance factions and the Popular Mobilization Forces, and carrying out assassinations via drones, in addition to fueling internal conflicts between Iraqi components.
Security expert Adnan Al-Kinani confirmed on Monday that the Iraqi forces have the full capacity to protect the territories and pursue the remnants of terrorism without the need for support from the international coalition forces, noting that Washington is working to weaken some types of security forces to ensure continued reliance on them.
Al-Kinani said in a statement to the agency /Information/, “Iraqi forces of all kinds are capable of holding the ground and preventing any terrorist presence, as well as pursuing its remnants without relying on the efforts of the international coalition.”
He added that “the American side seeks to weaken Iraqi air capabilities to facilitate its malicious missions that will be launched from northern Iraq against national figures, symbols, and security leaders in a way that serves its interests in the region, including providing protection for Israel,” indicating that “the next phase requires distancing the security institutions from whims and political conflicts.”
Barzani in the service of the American project
This complex scene cannot be read without examining the role of the Kurdistan Regional Government’s leadership, which provides land and political and logistical support for the American presence, in a way that serves agendas that blatantly conflict with the Iraqi national interest.

While the people await the end of the occupation, some insist on opening the back doors to it, in a scene that threatens the future of Iraq and its unity, and makes Kurdistan an advanced American platform for undermining stability in the region.
