Abdul Rahman al-Jazairi, a member of the State of Law Coalition, confirmed that the American side is exerting pressure on al-Sudani regarding the Popular Mobilization Law and an attempt to withdraw the Popular Mobilization Forces from some areas and reduce their numbers.
Al-Jazairi told Al-Maalouma, “There is American pressure exerted on the government regarding the Popular Mobilization Forces with the aim of reducing their numbers and removing them from some areas in Samarra, Anbar, and Babylon.”
He added that “al-Sudani’s harmony with American trends comes in order to strive for a second term, especially since he has 53 seats in parliament, in addition to the fact that the American side has economic control over the Iraqi economy.”
He explained that “America’s control over the Iraqi economy, the central bank, and international oil sales under the umbrella of OPEC, in addition to the fact that Iraqi revenues obtained from oil sales go to the American Federal Bank.”
