Al-Sudani rules on corruption and secrecy. Parliament prepares to uncover Iraqs biggest financial scandalInformation/Report…
The Iraqi political scene is witnessing a dangerous escalation in the crisis of corruption and budget manipulation, with Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani accused of crossing all red lines by blatantly exploiting state resources to serve his own electoral agenda. Al-Sudani has become a symbol of obfuscation and corruption, adhering to a policy of systematically concealing budget schedules, ignoring all parliamentary demands to hold him accountable and expose the true extent of Iraq’s financial deficit.

It appears that these practices not only harm the economy but also directly threaten the integrity of the upcoming elections. Public funds are being brazenly used to form electoral alliances through illegal bonuses and promotions, indicating systematic corruption aimed at eliminating rivals and maintaining absolute control over the political landscape.

Amid this financial darkness and absurd management, Iraqis are questioning the government’s ability to reform itself. Will this farce, which threatens state institutions and the future of democracy in the country, end? Or will Sudan continue its cycle of political plunder without restraint?
Government blackout

Regarding this matter, MP Ahmed Majeed Al-Sharmani revealed, in a statement to Al-Maalouma, that parliamentary movements are targeting Al-Sudani’s presence in parliament, due to his deliberate failure to submit the budget tables to the parliament and his being held responsible for the current economic situation.

Al-Sharmani asserted that the government is ignoring parliamentary messages regarding the budget deficit, and that Al-Sudani instructed the Minister of Finance not to disclose these details. He expressed widespread parliamentary dissatisfaction with the government’s policy of concealment regarding financial matters, which calls for accountability
.

For his part, MP and former member of the parliamentary finance committee, Mohammed Al-Shabaki, accused the prime minister of using public funds and the budget for illegal electoral campaigns, by granting bonuses and promotions to a number of army and police officers with the aim of garnering political loyalty. Al-Shabaki warned that this constitutes a violation of the constitution, a deviation from political neutrality, and undermines the principle of democracy.

Observers believe that the continuation of these policies may lead to the upcoming elections being emptied of their democratic content and establish the principle of political monopoly through the exploitation of power and influence.
