Zahra Al-Bajari, a member of the Coordination Framework, confirmed on Tuesday that the bloc’s representatives are determined to pass the Popular Mobilization Forces and Maritime Authority laws. She noted that the former represents a challenge to American and British pressure, while the latter grants Iraq the right to impose its sovereignty over the sea.
Al-Bajari told Al-Maalouma News Agency, “The pressure exerted by the United States, Britain, and others who do not wish for security stability in the country, by refusing to pass the Popular Mobilization Law, is rejected by Shiite representatives who are aware of their malicious intentions.”
She stressed that “the law will move forward regardless of these pressures, as Shiite MPs hold a parliamentary majority of 183 seats, ensuring its passage.”
Al-Bajari pointed out that “the Coordination Framework representatives are determined to pass the Maritime Authority Law alongside the Popular Mobilization Forces Law during this legislative session.”
She added, “The Popular Mobilization Law represents a challenge to all opponents, whether internally or externally, while the Maritime Authority Law will preserve Iraq’s maritime sovereignty by raising the Iraqi flag on its ships instead of the Jordanian flag, whose country imposes fees for raising its flag.”
