Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani stressed on Wednesday the economic importance of the Faw investment refinery project, noting that it will be a turning point in the oil industry.
The Prime Minister’s media office said in a statement received by Al-Maalouma Agency, “Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani chaired a meeting to discuss finalizing procedures for the Faw investment refinery project, in the presence of a number of advisors to the Prime Minister and the general directors of the Ministries of Finance and Oil.”
The statement added that “during the meeting, a number of administrative and technical procedures that were hindering the commencement of work in the refinery were resolved, and work was done to adapt and simplify procedures to move towards completing the project requirements and reaching the stage of commencing implementation.”
The Prime Minister pointed to “the economic importance of the project and the economic model that will have significant financial returns and will be a turning point in the oil industry,” stressing that “the completion of the project is part of the plans adopted by the government in the field of reforming public companies, to improve and develop the reality of work, to achieve profits and support the general federal budget.”
