Member of Parliament Ahmed Al-Badri confirmed on Saturday the escalation of parliamentary activity rejecting the Khor Abdullah Agreement, stressing that Iraqi national sovereignty is not subject to concessions or negotiation under any circumstances.
Al-Badri said in a statement to Al-Maalouma Agency, “The number of representatives who signed the document rejecting the controversial Khor Abdullah Agreement has reached more than 198 representatives so far,” noting that “the agreement represents a violation of Iraqi sovereignty and will not be allowed to pass in Parliament.”
He added, “This national campaign came in defense of Iraq’s rights and principles,” stressing that “Khor Abdullah is entirely Iraqi, and no agreement or understanding can change this established fact.”
The House of Representatives is witnessing widespread activity to reject the previously signed agreement regulating navigation in Khor Abdullah, amid demands for its official cancellation and the reaffirmation of full national sovereignty over this vital waterway.
