The Iraqi Electoral Commission affirmed on Thursday its commitment to opening its doors to local and international observers, as part of ensuring transparency and integrity in the upcoming electoral process.

The next parliamentary elections are scheduled to be held on Monday, November 11, 2025, by decision of the Iraqi government.

Hassan Hadi Zayer, a member of the commission’s media team, told Shafaq News Agency, “The commission has approved the accreditation regulations for international and local observers, as well as media professionals from inside and outside Iraq.” He stressed that “the commission’s doors will be open to all accredited oversight bodies during the electoral process.”

Zayer added, “The UN mission will play a supporting role through the UN assistance office within the commission, which will continue coordination and technical support to enhance the efficiency of the electoral process.”

Regarding the candidate lists, Zayer explained that “the lists are still being reviewed by specialized teams,” noting that “after the review phase is completed, these lists will be referred to the relevant verification authorities to verify the candidates’ eligibility in accordance with legal regulations.”
