Parliamentary Finance Committee Chairman Atwan al-Atwani confirmed on Wednesday that the delay in submitting the 2025 budget schedules has caused numerous problems, including delayed bonuses and promotions, and even the disruption of economic projects.
Al-Atwani told Al-Maalouma News Agency that “the failure to submit budget tables makes the objectives of economic policy unclear and unknown, as the investment budget includes new projects, investment opportunities, and ministerial programs that are stalled due to the lack of legislation on the tables.”
He added, “The government has clearly violated the provisions of Article 77/Second of the Federal Budget Law, which requires the Council of Ministers to send the budget tables for the fiscal year (2025) before the end of the previous fiscal year to the House of Representatives for approval.”
He pointed out that “there is no indication from the government regarding sending budget tables, which leaves the ministries with an incomplete vision,” noting that “despite the passage of more than half of the 2025 fiscal year, the government has not yet sent the budget tables to the House of Representatives.”
