A parliamentary source reported on Sunday that the Iraqi parliament is hosting Finance Minister Taif Sami to discuss the delay in submitting the budget schedules to the House of Representatives.
The source told Shafaq News Agency, “The Parliamentary Finance Committee is hosting Finance Minister Taif Sami today to discuss a number of important topics, including explaining the reasons for the delay in sending the budget tables to the House of Representatives.”
He added, “Today’s session will discuss the mechanism for implementing the Ministry of Finance’s government program and the implementation of the general budget law for the years 2023, 2024, and 2025.”
Last Wednesday, the head of the Iraqi parliament’s Finance Committee, Atwan al-Atwani, requested that Finance Minister Taif Sami be hosted at the committee’s office next Sunday.
The hosting request, which Shafaq News Agency has seen, stated that the topics to be discussed include three axes: the first is the results of implementing the government program of the Ministry of Finance, the second axis is related to implementing the budget for the years (2023, 2024, 2025), and the third axis is preparing the 2025 budget tables.
