A leader in the Sovereignty Alliance, Abdul Majeed al-Dulaimi, announced today, Saturday, that the signatures of more than 180 representatives have been collected to reject the Khor Abdullah Agreement, considering it “illegitimate” because it affects Iraqi national security.
Al-Dulaimi said in a statement to Al-Maalouma Agency, “More than 180 representatives signed an official document announcing their rejection of the Khor Abdullah Agreement and their non-recognition of its provisions, as it was concluded under exceptional and unsuitable security conditions that Iraq has experienced in recent years.”
He added that “the signatory representatives intend to demand an emergency session of the Council of Representatives in the coming days to discuss the agreement and take an official position on it, especially after information was received about its passage as part of a suspicious financial deal from which senior officials in previous governments benefited.”
He explained that “the next stage will witness the disclosure of the names of those involved in the Khor Abdullah deal to the public and their referral to the judiciary.”
