From grease sellers to money and political hyenas... Halbousi - Al-Khanjar and Al-Abbasi are stealing Iraq from its heartInformation / Special ..
They say that “history is unforgiving,” but what is happening in Iraq today proves that history can be distorted by those who are only destined to have a place in it as “numbers” who contribute to its influence beyond their personal interests.
Mohammed al-Halbousi, Thabet al-Abbasi, Khamis al-Khanjar, and others are names that people may not overlook in conversation, but they have become symbols of corrupt political money, and their history is full of provocative questions.
From fake heroes to men of money and power,
Mohammed al-Halbousi, the former Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament, was initially just an ordinary person, with little influence in the Iraqi political arena. However, over time, and with the rise of political money, he was able to rise on the shoulders of deals and funding that made him one of the most prominent figures in Iraqi politics.
Thabet al-Abbasi, the Minister of Defense, was not mentioned by some as one of the names that were once on everyone’s lips, but this man, whose history is nothing but a name, has today become part of the political game in which political money plays on the strings of private interests.
As for Khamis al-Khanjar, his name cannot be mentioned without reference to his ambitions that transcended reality. Many Iraqis know him only as an investment man who plays politics behind the scenes, far removed from the concerns and suffering of the people. Once a mere merchant, al-Khanjar has today become a significant figure in the Iraqi political money equation.

Political Money… The Spearhead in Destroying National Identity
What distinguishes all of these individuals is that they were nothing more than tools to finance their own interests in the arena of political money. They emerged from historical poverty and became a dominant political force, but not through their merits or competencies, but rather through dubious deals and relationships saturated with money.
The political money they possess does not express national values or the principles of sacrifice for Iraq. Rather, it reflects a state of opportunism that is now being used to change the country’s features and history, turning Iraq into an arena for the struggle of individual interests, without these people remembering the extent of the people’s suffering.
The Destruction of National History
All of these people, including Halbousi, Al-Abbasi, and Al-Khanjar, are merely examples of the “political scum,” as some call them. They came from nothing, with nothing but empty pockets and a silent history that reflects nothing but ignorance and systematic efforts to destroy Iraqi identity. Today, they have become bargaining chips in the political money market, controlling Iraq’s fate through bribes and understandings that put the people’s interests at risk.
Not only did they take advantage of the status quo, but they also worked to marginalize all the true national forces within their society and identity that were striving to build the state and liberate it from the grip of corruption. While the people fight to build their country, they continue, with all their might, to steal this opportunity.
Can Iraq be liberated from the grip of political money?
Iraq today is in real danger of becoming a place manipulated by foreign interests and suspicious money. These politicians are nothing but parasites feeding off the people’s suffering, and they have offered nothing noteworthy to this people except more devastation, poverty, and destruction.
In the end, Iraq’s history is not enough for these and other corrupt people. They came to harm it more than ever before. Time will reveal who they are: mere “tools” in the game of money and politics.
