The first advisor to the Speaker of Parliament, Ahmed Al-Dafaei, affirmed Iraq’s full right to its territorial waters within Khor Abdullah, stressing that Iraq will never relinquish a single inch of this land.
Al-Dafaei said in a statement received by Al-Maalouma Agency, “The three presidencies have placed the ball in the Parliament’s court, which places members of parliament before a historical responsibility to prove their patriotism and defend Iraqi sovereignty in Khor Abdullah.”
He added, “Iraq has the full right to Khor Abdullah, and we will never relinquish any part of it, based on a firm national conviction that what Iraq owns cannot be sold or given away by anyone.”
Al-Dafaei pointed out that “there is a strong national will within Parliament to affirm Iraq’s right to Khor Abdullah,” calling on the Iraqi people to support this will by all available popular means.
He concluded by saying, “No foreign country has the right to determine the identity of Khor Abdullah, as its identity was and will remain Iraqi forever, and this is what patriots under the dome of Parliament will defend relentlessly.”
