Member of Parliament Zahra Al-Bajjari explained on Sunday that there is widespread parliamentary readiness to vote to invalidate the Khor Abdullah Agreement if it is included on the agenda of the upcoming parliament sessions. She also expressed her hope that the illegal Khor Abdullah Agreement will be repealed in the next parliamentary sessions.
Al-Bajjari told Al-Maalouma News Agency that re-introducing the agreement to parliament would face a decisive response, noting that “there is a parliamentary majority that supports the court’s decision and will vote to annul the agreement, which was previously approved without a quorum, making its invalidation a sound constitutional step.”
She explained that “the agreement did not receive full legal procedures previously, which undermines its legitimacy,” adding that “Khor Abdullah is entirely Iraqi, and there is no room for relinquishing a single inch of land under any pretext.”
Al-Bujari called on “political forces and representatives to shoulder their national responsibilities and be actively present during the upcoming sessions, to vote against the agreement and affirm full Iraqi sovereignty over the disputed waters and lands.”
