The Ministry of Finance commented on Saturday on statements made by the head of the Contractors Union regarding company dues, while affirming its commitment to disbursing them in accordance with legal procedures.
The ministry stated in a statement received by Shafaq News Agency, that “what was mentioned in the statements of the head of the Iraqi Contractors Union regarding the existence of procrastination or delay in disbursing the dues of companies and contractors, we confirm our full commitment to implementing Cabinet Resolution No. (273) of 2025, especially paragraph (2) which stipulates that contracting parties contact the Ministry of Planning regarding the belongings of contracting companies and contractors whose transactions are delayed and for each case separately for the purpose of including the amounts of the first and second installments.”
She added, “The responsibility for allocating these amounts falls under the purview of the sectoral authority, along with the Ministry of Planning, not the Ministry of Finance. Disbursements will be made after the completion of the necessary procedures and final approval, according to the approved schedules and priorities.”
The ministry noted that all disbursement procedures are conducted transparently and in accordance with financial laws and regulations, and that some delays in disbursements are due to technical and administrative reasons related to the beneficiaries’ completion of the necessary documentation, rather than any other considerations. It called on all parties to exercise accuracy in media statements and refrain from making accusations that lack legal basis and undermine efforts to regulate the country’s financial situation.
It affirmed its respect for contractors’ rights and its commitment to disbursements in accordance with official procedures. It also reserves the legal right to respond to any abuse or misleading of public opinion.
