MP Amir Al-Maamouri held the Ministry of Finance and the federal government responsible on Thursday for the delay in submitting the budget tables to the House of Representatives for a vote, stressing that this delay directly impacts the country’s economic situation.
Al-Maamouri told Al-Maalouma, “The Ministry of Finance is deliberately delaying the submission of budget tables under the pretext of incomplete data, while simultaneously attempting to avoid hosting a number of MPs who have demanded clarifications regarding the budget deficit.” He noted that “continuing this approach weakens the performance of state institutions and hinders the implementation of government projects and plans.”
He added that “the House of Representatives cannot vote on any allocations without officially receiving the schedules,” calling for “serious government action to resolve this issue and submit the schedules as soon as possible to avoid further economic damage.”
It is noteworthy that the Ministry of Finance has not yet sent the 2025 budget schedules, despite the passage of more than half a year, which exacerbates the delay in financial and legislative procedures.
