Member of the Finance Committee in the House of Representatives, Hussein Al-Saabari, revealed today, Saturday, that the budget law has not yet reached Parliament, stressing that the latter is anticipating holding extraordinary sessions once it receives the schedules from the government.
Al-Saabari said in a statement to / Al-Maalouma /, that “the Ministry of Finance has not yet sent any official schedules related to the budget law,” noting that “the parliament’s legislative recess has made the possibility of putting the law to a vote more difficult.”
He added that “the data indicate that Parliament will move to hold extraordinary sessions immediately after receiving the schedules from the government, to vote on the budget, in addition to other laws whose approval has been delayed due to the suspension of regular sessions.”
He pointed out that “the Finance Committee had called for amending Article 14 of the budget law, in conjunction with amending Article 12, to include the consolidation of contracts and the conversion of daily workers to contracts,” indicating that “the amendment was limited to Article 12 only, which left Article 14 unamended, leading to the continuation of the problem without a comprehensive legal solution.”
