Chairman of the Parliamentary Economy and Investment Committee, Yasser Al-Husseini, accused the current government on Saturday of negligence in vital issues related to sovereignty, security, and the economy, considering it the worst in the modern history of Iraq in years.
Al-Husseini said in a statement to Al-Maalouma Agency, “The performance of the current government is not limited to failure in the issue of national sovereignty only, but has gone beyond that to a clear failure in managing the security file and distributing national wealth fairly among the people, especially in poor and deprived areas.”
He added that “the absence of a clear economic vision and the continued disparity in the distribution of resources created a large gap between the components of society and contributed to deepening the suffering of large segments of citizens,” noting that “the government did not fulfill its pledges towards marginalized areas and did not take any action to improve living conditions there.”
He stressed that “the government’s performance during the current phase is among the worst in years, whether at the level of economic planning, respect for national sovereignty, or the provision of basic services,” calling for “the need to hold accountable those responsible for this deterioration and take serious steps to save the economic and security situation in the country.”
