The Iraqi Al-Sumari Military Industries Factory intends to market two locally manufactured rifles with international specifications in the coming days.

The director of the laboratory, Ghazwane Al-Azara, said in a statement received by Shafaq News Agency that the laboratory is close to announcing the SAR-313 rifle, which is a new development of the Iraqi “Tabuk” rifle, to become a new rifle that conforms to international specifications and is similar in its performance and structure to the famous Russian “Krennikov” rifle.

He added that the factory is close to producing the SMR-5, a rifle similar to the American M-4, reflecting Iraq’s standing in the military industry, having been designed with high quality and manufactured in accordance with international standards.

He emphasized that the prices of these two components are several times lower than those purchased on global markets, which would allow the factory to save Iraqi security agencies significant amounts of money if it were contracted to purchase these or other components in the future.

Al-Azara explained that he had established an officially registered laboratory and a key partner of the Military Industrialization Authority, which allows him to manufacture and develop weapons and military equipment, in addition to providing job opportunities for youth and students.

He pointed out that the laboratory seeks to be among the first 25 international companies that manufacture and supply weapons to countries around the world by 2030.
