Shafaq News/ An informed source revealed on Tuesday that Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani sent a “reminder” to the United States regarding the security agreement concluded with Iraq, which obligates Washington to guarantee the safety of Iraq’s airspace and territory from any external violation or aggression.
The source told Shafaq News Agency, “The last meeting held by the Coordination Framework forces discussed in detail the ongoing war between Iran and Israel and the need to adopt positive neutrality in dealing with the conflict the region is experiencing, in a way that does not drag the country into war.”
He added, “All parties to the framework agreed on the necessity for the United States to adhere to the terms of the joint security agreement with Iraq, particularly the clauses that oblige the United States to protect Iraqi airspace and territory from any violation or aggression.”
The source indicated that “Al-Sudani sent an explicit message to the US State Department via the Iraqi Foreign Ministry, reminding Washington of its security agreement with Iraq to ensure the safety of Iraq’s airspace and territory from any external violation or aggression. All forces with armed wings also emphasized the need to remain neutral and not drag the country into war.”
The Coordination Framework held a meeting on Sunday evening, attended by Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani and a number of its leaders, to discuss the latest political and security developments in the country and the region.
A statement issued by the meeting, received by Shafaq News Agency, stated that the attendees expressed their “strong condemnation and denunciation of the repeated aggressive behavior of the Zionist entity, particularly the recent attacks on the Islamic Republic of Iran, which led to the martyrdom of a number of leaders and scholars, in addition to the deaths of dozens of martyrs.”
