Ali Hussein Al-Fatlawi, a leader in the Al-Fatah Alliance, ruled out on Wednesday the approval of the oil and gas law during the remaining term of the current parliament, while pointing out the existence of an international and regional will to maintain the status quo in order to benefit from oil at low prices due to illegal pumping.
Al-Fatlawi said in a statement to / Al-Maalouma / agency, that “the Coordination Framework’s call for the necessity of approving the oil law during the current session stems from a genuine will to solve many problems.”
He added, “The approval of the law during the remaining term of parliament is unlikely and almost impossible due to the lack of a genuine will from all parties in the political process, especially the region, as it is the sole beneficiary of the absence of a law regulating the production and marketing of oil and the federal government’s control over these operations.”
He pointed out that “there is an international and regional will to maintain the status quo in order to benefit from obtaining oil at low prices due to illegal pumping.”
It is noteworthy that the Coordination Framework held an expanded meeting on Monday, in which it discussed several important issues. The attendees emphasized that the legislation of the oil and gas law in the House of Representatives is the core of the solution to end the outstanding issues between Baghdad and Erbil.
