A leader in the United Anbar Alliance, Mohammed al-Dulaimi, revealed on Wednesday that there are active parliamentary movements aimed at exposing Kuwaiti ambitions in Khor Abdullah, revealing the parties that signed the agreement to “sell” the waterway, and presenting evidence to the judiciary.
Al-Dulaimi said in a statement to Al-Maalouma Agency that there is “a parliamentary movement to uncover the dimensions of the Kuwaiti encroachment on Iraqi sovereignty, and to expose the involved former officials who concluded the Khor Abdullah agreement in exchange for sums of money paid by the Kuwaiti government as bribes, according to what was documented by initial investigations.”
He added, “The central government possesses internationally recognized documents confirming that Khor Abdullah belongs to Iraq, and rejects any attempts to compromise national sovereignty,” noting that “the Council of Representatives has formed specialized committees to investigate the facts related to the ongoing violations by the Kuwaiti side.”
Al-Dulaimi explained that “Kuwait is secretly seeking to gain international support to share the outlet and control Iraqi lands rich in oil and gas,” stressing that “opening the Khor Abdullah file will lead to the downfall of prominent political figures who held positions in previous governments.”
