Fadlallah - The Kurds foreign movements are a constitutional violation and a veiled message of secessionAl-Maalouma/Baghdad..
Political analyst Ali Fadlallah considered, on Saturday, that the visits made by Kurdish officials abroad, especially to the United States, represent a real violation of the concept of the Iraqi state.
Fadlallah said, in a statement to Al-Maalouma Agency, that “the Iraqi constitution clearly stipulates that the regulation of foreign relations and the conclusion of contracts are the exclusive prerogative of the federal government,” noting that “any external action that takes place outside this framework is a clear violation of the constitutional texts and carries a negative message that suggests a lack of belonging to the Iraqi state.”
He added that “the Kurdistan Region has a history of concluding oil contracts unilaterally, and experience has proven that these contracts were illegal, whether at the level of local or even international law, including American law.”
He stressed that “these practices weaken the prestige of the state and create a state of duality in sovereign decision-making, which calls for a serious stance by the federal government to ensure respect for the constitution and the sovereignty of Iraq.”
