A member of the Parliamentary Legal Committee, Aref Al-Hamami, stressed on Friday the necessity of holding emergency sessions of Parliament to discuss important files, despite the current legislative recess. He pointed out that “there are important laws still in Parliament’s corridors awaiting a vote, including the Popular Mobilization Law and others related to members of the security forces.”
In a statement to Al-Maalouma Agency, Al-Hamami criticized “the government’s delay in sending the general budget tables to Parliament,” warning of “the negative economic repercussions that may result from not voting on these tables,” calling on the government to “clarify the reasons for this delay and refer the tables to Parliament as soon as possible.”
He pointed out that “political differences had a clear impact on the performance of Parliament in its current session,” but at the same time stressed that “the Council was able, despite these obstacles, to pass many laws that had been suspended for years.”
