Shafaq News/ The financial and economic advisor to the Prime Minister, Mazhar Mohammed Salih, revealed on Sunday the expected economic benefits for Iraq after the Arab Summit in Baghdad.
Saleh told Shafaq News Agency, “The success of the Baghdad Summit holds significant potential economic benefits for Iraq. Foremost among these benefits is the fact that the participating leaders and others will see the country’s significant economic and political stability, which will undoubtedly be the cornerstone for attracting investment.”
He added, “The success of the summit sends a reassuring message to the world that Iraq is moving toward a safer and more stable environment in building an economy based on developing and growing a leading economy in a strategic region of the world, capable of integrating its economic vision and joint work with the economic visions of the region’s economically strong countries, such as Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, Egypt, and other Arab countries.”
Saleh pointed out that “the development road project and its associated industrial and economic cities in Iraq include a true vision and strategy to attract direct and indirect investment and integration with the Arab Summit countries. It represents an opportunity for success between the summit and the major medium- and long-term development paths in Iraq and the economically strong surrounding region.”
He pointed out that “the success of the Arab Summit will be reflected in providing a stable platform for economic understandings between Iraq and participating countries with geographical proximity (such as Jordan, Egypt, the Gulf, Turkey, Iran), and others, which is what we call the accelerated construction of economies of peace, sustainable development, and progress through open and integrated markets. The success of the Baghdad Summit, especially the Baghdad Declaration, also encourages the development opportunity to sign investment partnership agreements at the level of countries in the Arab region and the world, in light of the availability of a promising Iraqi environment that has become free of the risks of the past and encourages (future economies) in sustainable development.”
The financial and economic advisor concluded by saying, “This is what makes Iraq today stronger and an active party in accelerating collective economic initiatives, such as: (strengthening free trade zones and entering the world of joint energy and industrial projects), in addition to food and water security initiatives and advanced digital technologies that use artificial intelligence and other capabilities of the fourth technological revolution to achieve practical goals provided by the climate of the Arab Development Summit and its productive and successful diplomacy in Baghdad as an Arab and regional development hub.”
